Bauhaus Archive

The Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung studies and presents the history and influence of the Bauhaus, the twentieth century’s most important college of architecture, design and art – and over the course of the decades it has built up the world’s largest collection of materials on the subject. To be able to present the collection more comprehensively, the Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin will be adding a new building to coincide exactly with the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus in 2019.

But even now it offers – particularly through the numerous educational services provided – profound insights into the collection and the college’s programme. The Bauhaus was only in existence up to 1933, but the ideas it produced continue to be influential in a wide variety of ways. Accordingly, the Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin presents not only thematic exhibitions on the Bauhaus, but also regular exhibitions of contemporary design from the creative community.
