Restaurateur, Johnny Vodanovich was born in New Orleans and raised in the Broadmoar and Uptown areas, before attending De La Salle high school. During those years he spent much of his time at his family’s owned bars and restaurants, including Bozo’s, gaining a foundation and love of food and service. After high school Johnny attended Loyola and Southeastern; where he majored in Business and played baseball, basketball, football and golf collegiately.
Upon graduation he work as a manager at the Coffee Pot on St. Ann, Café Creole, Auggie’s; then alongside world famous Chef Gunter Preuss at the legendary Versailles Restaurant on St. Charles Ave., before becoming General Manager of Clancy’s Restaurant, a position he would hold for fifteen years. During this time he helped to operated charity events for Michael Jordan and other celebrities. After leaving Clancy’s, he successfully open Monkey Hill Bar on Magazine St. in 2001; all the while developing the idea for his latest endeavor, Grille by the Hill.
