Parque da Catacumba

Where was built a shantytown, the Catacomb Park is the result of executing two notable projects: at the bottom, to middle slope of the hill, a solid piece of architecture, landscaping and landscaping at the site created a sumptuous and enjoyable space formed by boulevards, parks and gardens with many trees, and outdoor exhibition of sculptures by famous artists.

In another moment, the hillside to the top of the hill was made reforestation, with the predominant species found in the rainforest. Consequently, the local fauna, formed mostly by birds and marmosets, as what appears in the photo beside emerged. A trail leads to the highest point of the hill, where a gazebo allows you to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

Few of the park goers residing in its vicinity. Most come from afar, including tourists from Brazil and abroad. This causes its importance transcends the boundaries of the neighborhoods that surround it, making it a place of great value to the entire city of Rio de Janeiro. Fate, however, that the Park was given in concession to entrepreneurs with many of those goals that animated its founders.
