AcquaMadre Hammam

AcquaMadre Hammam is located in the heart of Rome, near piazza Mattei, where is located the famous fountain of turtles made by Bernini. In the roman culture as in the Greek one the hammam is called thermae. Places in which the hourglass of time stays outside the door in order to make space for the slow water flow and where the smell of incense fills all the air. A true moment of relax for the mind and the body. As tradition the hammam previews the passage from the warmer room to the coldest one, in which the slow massage of specialistic hands take you through the succession of sensations. In the first room, apodyterium or dressing room of the hammam, you can take off everything and every thought, and, covered by a white towel, you prepare yourself for a trip to themselves, for a moment of deep listening of your body, for a moment of relaxation and meditation. Then moving to the tepidarium you dive into an almost surreal atmosphere, evanescent bodies melt between fumes, plays of light and the sound of running water. After a hot shower you lie down on heated marble benches and you let expert hands pamper you with hot water ablutions that loosen any tension, open your pores and wash away any impurities. The hammam leads to indulge, to fall asleep, and to take possession of your body massaging themselves for adding to water benefits the black soap with olive oil ones that makes the skin soft and bright.
