Renaissance Vinoy Resort

This is the place to stay if youíre seeking the cityís most up-market accommodations. The lobby, hallways, ballroom and guest rooms all reflect the glory of years past. Some of the areaís most prestigious grand balls are held here each year. It is also a popular venue for fundraisers. The hotel is a pleasant place for an after-show dessert or nightcap. The hallways here are lined with original doors from the 1920s, recovered and restored. With a long wooden bar sitting smack in the middle of it, the primary on-site restaurant, Marchandís, is one of the cityís finest. The front porch has a handful of rocking chairs for gazing out on diving pelicans and bright-sailed craft. Guest rooms fit the resortís overall grand atmosphere and come with coffee service, morning newspaper, color cable TV and a fully stocked refreshment center. Although billed as a golfing resort, the hotelís course is off-site, a short shuttle away on Snell Isle.
